Workprocess

The animation of the dancer consists of 112 hand-painted frames. The tiled floor is inspired by Moorish, Jewish, Arabic, and Andalusian tiles and is made up of seven different hand-drawn patterns, to which I applied an effect that makes them blend into each other and move. The painted arches are derived from the Mezquita in Córdoba, and the painted background consists of 35 different frames.
I struggled quite a bit with this animation because I was determined to make the dancer move seamlessly in a loop, while the reference video I used left much to be desired. I was thrilled when I finally got it to work—only to face the next challenge: the background. How could I convey my message in the best way possible while ensuring that the dancer remained the focal point? I experimented a lot, and this is the final result—one that I am truly happy with.
